John O'Dowd is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at the School of Law, University College Dublin. He has taught at UCD since 1991, covering courses including Contract Law, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Media Law, and European Convention on Human Rights Law. He holds an NUI Travelling Studentship in Law and completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford.
His research examines:
- Comparative constitutional frameworks
- Freedom of expression and media regulation
- Human rights jurisprudence
- Irish constitutional history
Recent publications focus on judicial reforms, defamation law modernization, and separation of powers. Scholarly work appears in law reviews and edited collections with consistent emphasis on Irish legal evolution.
