John Nádas

Professor Dr John Nádas is Petra Kappert Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures, University of Hamburg. A leading scholar of medieval music manuscripts, his research examines the transmission of polyphonic traditions in 14th-century Italian sources.

His work combines codicological analysis with musicological scholarship to reconstruct scribal practices and repertory dissemination. Research interests include manuscript production workflows, notation systems evolution, and the socio-cultural contexts of musical compilation.

Professor Nádas maintains collaborative projects with European libraries and archives focused on recovering fragmentary musical sources through digital technologies.
