John Hassard is a Professor in the PMO Management and Organisation Studies at The University of Manchester's Alliance Manchester Business School. Previously, he held academic roles at London Business School, Cardiff University, Keele University (as Head of Management School), and Cambridge University (as Fellow in Management Learning). His research focuses on organizational analysis, corporate change, historical/sociological approaches to organizations, and international corporate restructuring. He has secured over £6m in research funding from bodies like the ESRC, EPSRC, and the United Nations.
Education includes a Doctorate from Aston University, a Higher Doctorate from Manchester University, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Oulu. He serves on editorial boards of major journals and has authored 20 books and over 100 refereed articles in top journals like Academy of Management Review and Organization Studies.
His work addresses topics such as organizational restructuring in Chinese SOEs, multinational corporate reforms, and neoliberalism's impact on labor. Awards include Fellowships at Cambridge and London Business School.
