John Clayton is a renowned jazz bassist, composer, arranger, and educator. He is currently visiting the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, where he is collaborating with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble and Eastman New Jazz Ensemble. His career spans decades, featuring collaborations with legendary artists such as Paul McCartney, Diana Krall, and Whitney Houston. Clayton has taught for over 20 years at the University of Southern California, mentoring future educators like Eastman’s Sara Gazarek. His expertise spans jazz performance, composition, and pedagogy, with a focus on preserving and advancing jazz traditions.
