Sara Gazarek is an Associate Professor of Jazz Voice at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, where she designed and leads the institution’s jazz voice program. She is also a two-time GRAMMY Award winner and a founding member of the vocal ensemble säje, which earned a GRAMMY for Best Arrangement. Her career spans critically acclaimed albums, international tours, and collaborations with luminaries like Kurt Elling and Billy Childs. Gazarek serves as a National Trustee of the Recording Academy and has received a 2023 Chamber Music of America grant. Her upcoming projects include a full-length nonet expansion of her EP Vanity, set for release in 2025. Research interests include jazz vocal improvisation, contemporary vocal techniques, and interdisciplinary music education.
