Andy Farber

Andy Farber is a Lecturer of Jazz Studies and Arranging at Purchase College's Conservatory of Music. He is also on the faculty at Juilliard since 2010, teaching jazz composition and arranging, and serves as the music director of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop since 2015. A renowned jazz composer and arranger, Farber has collaborated with legendary figures such as Jon Hendricks and Wynton Marsalis, leading ensembles like the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and his own 16-piece Andy Farber Orchestra. His work spans collaborations with artists including Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, and major orchestras globally.

Farber’s research interests center on jazz composition, orchestration, and the intersection of jazz with classical and film music. He has conducted prestigious ensembles worldwide and contributed arrangements for figures like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and B.B. King. His orchestrations blend traditional jazz forms with contemporary techniques, emphasizing collaborative creativity.

Farber’s work in film and television composition extends his artistic reach beyond the concert stage. He has led educational initiatives through his teaching roles and mentorship of emerging musicians, fostering innovation in jazz pedagogy and performance.
