Marques Young is an Artist Faculty member specializing in Trombone at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He holds a Master’s degree from The Juilliard School and has been a prominent performer and educator in classical, jazz, and orchestral music.

Research & Performance Interests: Marques focuses on trombone performance across classical and contemporary genres, jazz ensemble leadership, and cross-cultural music collaboration. He has pioneered jazz culture development in Southeast Asia through ensembles like Bassment Syndicate and Q Sound.
Performance Highlights: He has performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Malaysian Philharmonic, and Lucern Festival Academy Orchestra, and collaborated with artists including Wynton Marsalis and Andrea Bocelli.

- Frank Smith International Trombone Solo Competition Winner (2008)
- Van Haney Orchestral Solo Competition Winner (2009)
- AIM Awards Nominee (2016 for Duel Citizenship)
Teaching & Creative Work: As Section Principal Trombone of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (since 2018), he balances orchestral leadership with teaching at YST. He also produces music, composes/arranges for ensembles, and leads multiple bands including Q Sound & 2nd Line.
