Mark Davidson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of Utah, where he teaches trombone students and an orchestral performance practicum course. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas and a degree from The Juilliard School, studying under renowned trombonists Jan Kagarice, Tony Baker, and Joseph Alessi.
- Professional Experience: San Antonio Symphony (2nd Trombonist), Cincinnati Symphony (Acting 2nd Trombonist), Baltimore Symphony (Acting Principal Trombonist), and Utah Symphony (Principal Trombone since 2015).
- Honors: Most Outstanding Undergraduate Award at UNT, winner of the Lewis Van Haney Tenor Trombone Competition.
Mark is passionate about advancing music education and performance in Utah. He founded the Mountain West Trombone Workshop in 2015, an annual event fostering trombonists of all ages. As a clinician for S.E. Shires, he conducts masterclasses and recitals globally. His research interests focus on trombone pedagogy, orchestral techniques, and music outreach.
Notable Engagements: Soloist with the United States Army Orchestra (2018), featured performer on the University of North Texas Wind Ensemble’s album Fiestas (2019). He also emphasizes practical performance training through his teaching and collaborations.
