Jeremy Marks is the Assistant Professor of Trombone at Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, along with degrees from Western Michigan University and Bowling Green State University. His teaching career includes roles at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Blinn College. Marks is an active orchestral musician, performing with ensembles such as the Charlotte Symphony, Richmond Symphony, and Greensboro Symphony, as well as with Andrea Bocelli. He specializes in tenor and bass trombone, bass trumpet, and euphonium.
As a chamber musician, Marks leads the Northside Trombone Quartet (winners of the 2013 ITA Quartet Competition) and directs the Carolina Trombone Project, which released the acclaimed album Mountain Ascent (2023). He has recorded Scenes from the Bayou with the Black Bayou Brass and regularly presents at conferences like the International Trombone Festival and American Trombone Workshop. His pedagogical focus emphasizes student success in competitions and graduate programs, with advisees advancing to prestigious music institutions.
Marks is an S.E. Shires Trombone Artist and uses Greg Black Mouthpieces exclusively. His professional affiliations include the International Trombone Association, where he contributes audio and literature reviews.
