Guericke C. Royal is an Associate Professor at Howard University's Department of Music within the College of Fine Arts. He has held leadership roles such as Department Chair (2008–2012) during NASM reaccreditation and currently serves as Secretary of the Faculty Senate. His expertise spans Jazz Theory, Jazz Arranging, Music Technology, Trumpet Performance, and theatrical composition, alongside active memberships in professional organizations like AFM and AES.

Dr. Royal’s research and professional work integrates Jazz Theory, Arranging, and Music Technology, with a focus on theatrical and orchestral composition. He has composed for the 1996 Summer Olympics, America's Most Wanted TV series, and award-winning productions like The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Roundheads and Peakheads. His career bridges academia and industry through freelance trumpet performance, music engraving, and audio engineering.
He has collaborated with iconic artists such as Henry Mancini, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and served as Artist-in-Residence for the Smithsonian Institution. His studio work includes audio mixing and mastering for diverse productions.
