John Blair is University Distinguished Professor and Edwin G. Brychta Professor of Biology at Kansas State University, where he directs the Konza Prairie Biological Station. As a terrestrial ecosystem ecologist, he investigates grassland responses to global change factors including climate change, land-use change, and nutrient deposition.
His research examines how these changes affect ecosystem processes like productivity, soil organic matter dynamics, and nutrient cycling in native and restored grasslands. He leads NSF-funded Long-Term Ecological Research at Konza Prairie.
Honors include ESA and AAAS fellowships. He has mentored numerous graduate students and received multiple teaching awards. Recent publications address climate legacies in grasslands, fire frequency effects, and soil carbon responses.
