Johanna Bücker is a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Public Law at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law since 2023. Her research focuses on international and European law, particularly derogation powers under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and states of emergency. She leads the project 'All Derogation Powers and Continuing States of Emergency under the ECHR', analyzing the legal frameworks for human rights suspensions during emergencies.
Education:
- 2016–2022: Study of Law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Université de Genève, and Eötvös Loránd Universität (Budapest), specializing in International and European Law.
Professional Experience: Internships at the German Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, the International Organization for Migration (as Carlo-Schmid-Fellow), and an international NGO. She also served as a student assistant at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Baer and the Coordination Office for Children's Rights of the German Children's Fund.
