Joel Boettger is an adjunct lecturer in Music Theory at Wichita State University, where he teaches courses in his field. Additionally, he offers private instruction in Wichita and performs as a freelance musician in the south-central Kansas area, holding positions with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Music Theater of Wichita, and NewSpring Church. His work bridges academia and performance, having shared the stage with renowned musicians like Johnny Mathis, Charles Pillow, Rich Perry, and Bob Mintzer.

Joel’s academic focus spans music theory, jazz performance, and composition, complemented by his expertise in woodwind and saxophone performance. Recently, he received a grant to study composition with Dave Rivello at Eastman, furthering his creative contributions to the field.

His compositions and arrangements have been showcased at both the Eastman School of Music and Wichita State University, highlighting his dual commitment to theoretical and practical musical expression.
