Aaron Henry is an Artist Faculty member in Jazz Saxophone at the Osher School of Music, part of the University of Southern Maine’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He is a saxophonist, woodwindist, producer, and composer specializing in modern and contemporary improvisation. His performances span prestigious venues like Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and international festivals such as North Sea and Istanbul Jazz Festivals. He collaborates with renowned artists including Dave Liebman, Anat Cohen, and Grammy-nominated ensembles like What’sNext?.
- Education: Master’s in Studio Composition (SUNY Purchase College), Bachelor’s in Saxophone Performance (Berklee College of Music).
His research and artistic focus revolves around jazz performance, improvisation techniques, and woodwind doubling. He explores intersections of traditional and modern approaches in music composition and ensemble leadership.
- Awards: Charlie Parker Award for Woodwind Excellence (Berklee College of Music).
He serves as Director of Bands and Instrumental Music at Yarmouth High School (ME), jazz faculty at New England Music Camp, and actively participates in MMEA All-State festivals. His work extends to educational outreach and ensemble mentorship across Maine and New England.
