Jody Patterson is an Associate Professor of History of Art and Roy Lichtenstein Foundation Chair of Art History at The Ohio State University, serving as Chair of Graduate Studies. Her expertise spans American Art and the intersection of public art with politics.
Education:

Research & Publications: Patterson’s work explores 20th-century American art, focusing on art’s political dimensions. She has published in Art History, Oxford Art Journal, and American Art. Her forthcoming book, Modernism for the Masses (Yale UP), examines 1930s New York public murals. Her current project, What About Modern Art and Democracy?, investigates modern art’s democratic aspirations.

- Terra Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (Smithsonian American Art Museum)
- Inaugural Teaching Fellowship at Institut national d’histoire de l’art
Teaching & Experience: She has taught at institutions including the Slade School of Fine Art, École normale supérieure, and the University of Plymouth. Her roles include postdoctoral research and international teaching.
