Dr. Joanna Kim is an Associate Department Head of Music and Professor at the University of North Georgia, where she specializes in piano performance and pedagogy. A native of Seoul, South Korea, she began piano studies at age four and has maintained an active career as a concertizing artist and chamber musician across five continents.
- Education: Studied at St. Scholarstica’s College in Sydney, Australia; West Virginia University (Master’s & Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance); University of Georgia.
Her research interests include piano performance techniques, collaborative musical art, and music education pedagogy. As a clinician and adjudicator, she has significantly influenced music education in Georgia.
- Scientific Awards: Herman Godes Scholarship, Honorary Performance Diploma (WVU), Steinway Artist.
- Leadership Roles: Chairwoman for GMEA Piano Division, Program Chair for Atlanta Steinway Society, State Chair for GMTA Collegiate State Piano Auditions.
