Joakim Gullstrand is the Dean of Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) and a Professor of International Economics. He has led LUSEM since January 2024, focusing on strategic development, quality assurance, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Previously, he spent over a decade as a professor at Lund University, including four years as Head of the Department of Economics. His global leadership roles include accreditation work with EQUIS, AMBA, and AACSB, and participation in leadership programs through Universitas 21 and EFMD.
His research explores firm internationalization, trade impacts, and food economics, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals. He teaches advanced trade theory and international economics, with visiting roles at institutions like the University of Melbourne and the University of Nottingham. Key projects include analyzing firm reshoring decisions, SME offshoring effects, and the economic implications of sanctions.
Active in Swedish and global academic networks, he advises on corporate partnerships and innovation strategies. His work bridges economic theory with policy, emphasizing sustainable growth and regional competitiveness.
