Dr Jo Molle serves as Departmental Lecturer and Course Leader for the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling and Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice at the University of Oxford. A Chartered Psychologist and BACP-accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor, she maintains dual registration with UKAHPP and UKCP, bringing over 20 years of clinical and teaching experience across university mental health services, hospital counseling, and community-based settings.
Her research centers on cross-disciplinary intersections between psychotherapy, psychology, philosophy, and sociology, with specialized focus on existential approaches to mental health. She examines tensions between traditional psychiatric frameworks and humane therapeutic alternatives, particularly in contexts involving chronic and life-limiting illnesses.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent thematic progression toward existential therapy applications in counseling and pastoral care. Her collaborative work emphasizes practical skills development and philosophical grounding in therapeutic practice, reflecting commitment to non-pathologizing approaches. As an active clinician, she continues direct service in low-cost community counseling alongside academic responsibilities.
