Trish Hobman

Dr Trish Hobman serves as the Associate Head of the Children, Young People, Education and Counselling division at York St John University. She holds a PhD and is a BACP-accredited counsellor with extensive experience in clinical and academic roles. As Course Lead for the PG Diploma in Counselling (BACP-accredited) and the Person-Centred Experiential CPD programme, she specializes in humanistic-integrative approaches, emphasizing embodied and relational therapeutic practices. She also contributes to the PRaCTICED trial, a randomized controlled trial comparing PCE therapy with CBT.

Her qualifications include a PhD, a Fellow Higher Education Academy status, and advanced training in counselling and supervision. She has worked in university and voluntary sector counselling services, alongside managing mental health charity operations.

Research focuses on supervision's impact on counsellors, using narrative inquiry, and explores ethical-professional dynamics in therapeutic relationships. Professional memberships include BACP accreditation and the UK Register of Counsellors.

Teaching spans undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional development programs, with involvement in curriculum design and course revalidation.
