Daphne Waithe serves as an Hourly Paid Lecturer at the University of East London within the Department of Professional Psychology, School of Childhood and Social Care. She has been actively involved with UEL's counsellor training program since 2002, contributing as a lecturer, facilitator, and clinical supervisor for the BACP-accredited PG Dip/MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Her research interests focus on lifelong personal development, therapists' therapy as a component of professional training and practice, and the critical application of academic theory into therapeutic practice. Her integrative approach synthesizes perspectives from humanistic and psychodynamic modalities tailored to individual client needs and supervisee development.
Outside her UEL responsibilities, Daphne maintains an active clinical practice working in both the NHS and private practice settings where she serves as a hands-on psychotherapist and clinical supervisor for therapists at all professional levels.
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the crucial connection between theoretical understanding and clinical application, encouraging ongoing reflective practice among her students. She brings over twenty years of practical experience in the counseling and psychotherapy field to her educational role.
