Jo Ellen Rodgers

Jo Ellen Rodgers, Pharm.D., is a Professor and Vice Chair of Professional Education and Practice at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, within the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics. She holds board certifications in pharmacotherapy and cardiology, and has been recognized as a distinguished practitioner and fellow of multiple professional organizations. Her clinical practice focuses on heart failure and cardio-oncology, with an active role in the UNC Health Care outpatient Cardio-Oncology Clinic.

Education: B.S. in Pharmacy and Pharm.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill, followed by a pharmacy practice/critical care residency at Medical College of Virginia and a cardiovascular pharmacotherapy fellowship at UNC.

Research interests include heart failure, cardio-oncology, and clinical pharmacy services. She leads investigator-initiated NIH-funded studies and industry-sponsored research. Awards highlight her clinical excellence, teaching (e.g., 2018 Instructor of the Year), and service. She mentors students, residents, and fellows, and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
