Denise H. Rhoney, Pharm.D., is the Ron and Nancy McFarlane Distinguished Professor and serves as Associate Dean for Curricular Innovation at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She chairs the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education (PACE) and previously held roles at Wayne State University and the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on traumatic brain injury, acute stroke, and cerebrospinal fluid pharmacokinetics, with recent emphasis on educational innovations in pharmacy curricula.

Dr. Rhoney has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and 9 book chapters, with publications in Pharmacotherapy, Neurology, and Critical Care Medicine. She is a leader in clinical pharmacy education, having received national awards for teaching and research. Her professional roles include service on the Board of Directors of the Neurocritical Care Society and leadership in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP).
Current Initiatives: Leading curricular innovation efforts at UNC, focusing on clinical reasoning skills and feedback-driven learning in pharmacy education. Oversees CIPhER and CIPS programs and chairs the Curriculum Transformation Steering Committee.
- Awards & Honors: Includes the ACCP Critical Care PRN Education Award (2015), AACP Innovations in Teaching Award (2019), and recognition as a Fellow in multiple professional societies.
