Mollie Ashe Scott

Mollie Ashe Scott, Pharm.D., is the Regional Associate Dean for the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Asheville campus and a Clinical Associate Professor. She oversees regional operations and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams at UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC to advance rural and interprofessional healthcare education and research. Her academic roles include leadership in ambulatory care pharmacy, geriatrics, and women’s health. Dr. Scott earned a B.S. in Biology (Meredith College) and Pharm.D. (UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy), followed by a geriatric pharmacy residency at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Her clinical and educational focus centers on patient-centered medical homes, osteoporosis management, and hormonal contraception access. She directs the Ambulatory Care Program and serves as a preceptor for PGY2 residency programs. Key contributions include developing ambulatory care services at MAHEC and advocating for pharmacist-prescribed contraception through legislative efforts (e.g., North Carolina’s House Bill 96). Dr. Scott chairs the MAHEC Department of Pharmacotherapy and leads initiatives to improve healthcare access in Western North Carolina.

Her awards include ASHP Fellow status and the APhA Bowl of Hygeia Award. She actively participates in professional organizations like NCAP and ASHP, focusing on advancing clinical pharmacy practice and rural health equity. Dr. Scott’s work emphasizes interprofessional collaboration, healthcare workforce development, and innovative practice models to address rural and geriatric healthcare challenges.
