Dr. Jo Clarke is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BSc Sport Business Management programmes at Leeds Trinity University, with a dual focus on UK and Hong Kong operations. As Internationalisation Lead for the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity, she drives global collaborations in student mobility, curriculum development, and institutional partnerships. Her research emphasizes non-governmental organizations' roles in sport-for-development initiatives, international higher education strategies, and volunteer tourism's socio-cultural impacts.
Education includes a BSc in Sport and Recreation Management (Birmingham University, 2003), MA in Sport, Culture and Community (Sheffield Hallam, 2012), and a PhD on power dynamics in Cameroonian sport partnerships (Leeds University, 2020). Professional experience spans roles in UK, New Zealand, and African sport sectors, including governance roles at Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Cameroon Cricket Federation.
Her research explores global power structures in sport interventions, publishing in International Journal of Sport Policy and Sport, Education and Society. Key themes include decolonizing sport partnerships, NGO-local relations, and volunteer motivations. She has presented at ISSA World Congresses and led workshops on SDGs at the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
