Jo Marsden-Heathcote is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Business Management at Sheffield Hallam University's School of Sport and Physical Activity, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. With 12 years of industry experience in sport, leisure, and health sectors prior to joining Hallam in 2010, she holds a BA (Hons) in Physical Education from Leeds Metropolitan University, PGCert, MBA (Psych), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Chartered Member of the CMI.
Her teaching focuses on Enterprise in Sport, Sport Event Management, and Physical Activity Development. Research interests include student employability strategies, feedback mechanisms, and organizational factors influencing staff development. She leads employability initiatives for Sport Business Management students and oversees the student conference.
Her applied research bridges theory and practice, emphasizing sport's role in addressing social agendas. Notable projects include NHS collaborations, Quest Accreditation initiatives, and Olympic-linked Adizones outdoor gyms. She has contributed to community sport development through event management, funding bids, and strategic planning.
