Jiyong Lee is a Professor in Glass at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU), where he has led the glass program and worked as an active studio artist since 2005. He previously taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology (2001-2005) after earning his MFA there.

Research Focus: Lee specializes in cold-worked and laminated sculptural glass, blending traditional techniques with experimental material processes. His work explores cultural duality through aesthetics informed by Korean and American educational backgrounds, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to glass art.
Awards and Recognition: He has received the Glass Art Society Emerging Artist Award and the Saxe Award from Pilchuck Glass School. His work has been featured in prestigious venues such as the Corning Museum of Glass, Museum of Glass Tacoma, and international biennales in Paris, Shanghai, and Korea.
Professional Engagement: Lee has served on the Glass Art Society Board of Directors (2009-2015) and delivered lectures/demonstrations at institutions including Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, and universities in Australia, Ireland, and South Korea.
