Jilleah Welch is a Lecturer and Senior Research Associate at the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics (2015) and an MBA (2007) from the University of Tennessee, alongside bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Industrial Engineering (2004) from North Carolina State University.
Her research focuses on education policy, public economics, and environmental policy. Key areas include examining the impact of financial aid on college choice and student outcomes, as well as projects on electric vehicles and the effects of coal activity on local education funding. She has conducted funded research for government and funding agencies, emphasizing applied policy analysis.
Welch is affiliated with the Center for Energy, Transportation, and Environmental Policy, where she contributes to interdisciplinary projects addressing energy and environmental challenges. Her work bridges academic research and practical policy solutions, particularly in education and sustainability domains.
