Tiffany Barron is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of American Civics within the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds a Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University (2023), an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago (with honors), and a B.A. in Political Science from Swarthmore College (with honors, 2013).
Her research focuses on the ethical dimensions of revolutions and civil wars, integrating just war theory and virtue ethics. She employs qualitative and mixed methods with a regional emphasis on China. Her dissertation, "The Ethics of Revolt: Just War, Moral Agency, and Civil Conflict," combines normative and empirical analyses of 20th-century Chinese case studies using Bayesian methods.
Barron has received prestigious awards, including the Graduate School Teaching Award (2022) and consecutive Bradley Fellowships (2020–2021). Her work bridges political theory and empirical analysis, emphasizing moral agency in conflict contexts.
