Dr. Jie Lian is the William Weightman Walker Professor of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), affiliated with the School of Engineering's Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and additional degrees in Materials Science and Electrical Engineering. His research focuses on advanced materials for nuclear energy systems, radiation-tolerant materials, and nuclear waste forms. He has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Microbeam Analysis Society.
