Jincheng Du is the University Distinguished Research Professor and Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas. His research focuses on computational modeling of glass structures, corrosion mechanisms, and material design for nuclear waste management, biomedical applications, and energy storage. He leads studies on glass corrosion kinetics, ion exchange strengthening, and advanced glass-ceramic systems using molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning.
Research interests include the structural characterization of bioactive glasses, oxyfluoride nanocrystals for optical applications, and the development of predictive models for glass properties. His work integrates experimental techniques with computational approaches to advance materials for environmental, biomedical, and energy sectors.
Publications highlight advancements in glass dissolution mechanisms, phase separation in ceramics, and AI-driven material discovery. He collaborates on initiatives like the Center for Performance and Design of Nuclear Waste Forms and Containers (WastePD) Energy Frontier Research Center.
