Jianming Xu is a Gordon Cain Endowed Professor of Cell Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, holding a joint appointment in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. He directs the Genetically Engineered Mouse Core and leads research into steroid hormone-promoted cancers, focusing on coregulators of steroid receptors. His work integrates molecular, cellular, and animal models to elucidate cancer mechanisms.
Dr. Xu received his PhD from Clarkson University and completed postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine. He has authored over 160 publications and trained 32 postdoctoral fellows and 11 graduate students.
Research interests emphasize gene networks and signaling pathways in breast, prostate, and endometrial cancers, particularly the roles of coactivators like SRC-3/AIB1. Techniques include ChIP-Seq, whole-genome sequencing, and mouse model generation. His lab’s multidisciplinary approach spans from molecular mechanisms to in vivo tumor modeling.
Key contributions include identifying SRC-3’s role in cancer metastasis and estrogen signaling, and demonstrating how coregulator alterations drive tumor progression. Collaborations focus on translational applications of coactivator inhibition for targeted therapies.
