Sang Jun Han is a Richard E. Buller Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He also serves as Co-Director of the Center for Coregulator Research and Faculty Member of the Center for Drug Discovery, Therapeutic Innovation Center, and Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research focuses on endometriosis pathogenesis, estrogen receptor signaling, and immunological mechanisms in reproductive diseases. Han holds a PhD from Seoul National University and completed postdoctoral training at Samsung Biomedical Research Institute and BCM.
His work investigates the molecular basis of endometriosis, including roles of steroid receptor coactivators (SRC-3), estrogen receptors (ERβ), and immune dysregulation. Key projects include developing SRC-3-deleted Treg cell therapies for cancer and endometriosis. Han has led grants from NICHD, CoRegen Inc., and the Department of Defense, addressing estrogen/growth factor signaling in endometriosis and tumor immune evasion.
Awards include the 2024 Cozzarelli Prize and Buller Endowed Professorship. His lab members include postdoctoral associates (Yuri Park) and research associates (Nuri Sung). Current projects explore environmental disruptors, epigenetic regulation, and natural ligand therapies for endometriosis.
