Dr. Jianlei Han is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University's Department of Applied Finance within the Macquarie Business School. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Finance. His research focuses on Fintech, DeFi, corporate finance, market micro-structure, and China's financial markets. Han holds a PhD in Finance from The University of Queensland (2017) and an MPhil in Statistics from Renmin University of China (2012).
His work spans transformative topics such as digital finance for climate resilience, low-carbon energy transitions in China, and the impact of political connections on cleantech adoption. Notable contributions include analyzing delinquency risk via real-time video, the role of religiosity in financial misconduct, and supply chain institutional ownership dynamics.
Recent projects include the Global Economic Prosperity Challenge on digital finance for Pacific Island climate resilience (2025-2026) and a sustainable finance platform for Central Tablelands communities (2024-2025). Han has received prestigious awards like the AFAANZ Best Corporate Finance Paper Award (2024) and the 2022 AFAANZ Conference Best Paper Award in Corporate Finance.
His research also explores innovative areas like CEO cultural origins influencing innovation, green bond evolution in China, and the impact of newspaper closures on financial misconduct. Han collaborates widely on projects addressing climate resilience, sustainable finance, and regulatory frameworks.
