Jia Feng

Jia Feng is Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at University of Nevada, Reno, affiliated with the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering. Her research examines urban-rural migration, informal economies, and spatial patterns of marginality.

Current work analyzes recycling enclaves developed by rural-to-urban migrants in Chinese cities using GIS and spatial data analysis. She applies geospatial methods to local projects including bikeshare programs and wildlife movement analysis.

Courses taught include Introduction to Geotechnology, GIS, and Advanced GIS Analyses. She mentors students applying geospatial methods to environmental and urban studies.
