Scott Bassett

Dr. Scott Bassett serves as the Associate Dean for the College of Science at the University of Nevada, Reno, overseeing research functions, proposal development, and technological advancement. He holds a D.Des. in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from Harvard University, an M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Ecology from Utah State University, and a B.S. in Geography and Anthropology with a Computer Science minor from Utah State University. His research focuses on environmental planning, urban growth modeling, spatial modeling, and GIS applications in conservation biology.

**Research Interests:**

• Climate change impacts on hydrology and wildlife habitats
• Urban-rural interface management

His recent work explores alternative land-use scenarios for natural resource management, drought dynamics in the western U.S., and human-wildlife interaction in urban ecosystems. Articles highlight interdisciplinary collaboration across ecology, climatology, and policy. He has advised students on projects involving avian predator behavior, tortoise population connectivity, and Burning Man urban planning scenarios.

**Grants & Labs:** Engaged in projects funded by USDA Forest Service and OSU Institute of Natural Resources. Co-developed GIS tools for forage optimization and paleoclimate modeling.
