Jessie Clark is Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno's College of Science. Research employs feminist and political geography frameworks to examine state-society relations, migration, and conflict in Middle Eastern contexts. Fieldwork includes long-term engagement in Kurdish Turkey analyzing gendered development-security intersections.
Research projects examine:
- Gendered impacts of development initiatives in Kurdish communities
- Religious practices in Kurdish migrant neighborhoods
- Refugee resettlement in US reception communities
- Housing insecurity in Reno, Nevada
Teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Human Geography, Political Geography, Field Methods, and Geography of the Middle East. As Graduate Program Director, oversees curriculum development and student advancement in human geography specializations.
