Jessica Niemann is the Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Clarkson College, where she also serves as an instructor. She holds an Associate of Science in PTA (1999) and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Services (2016) from Clarkson College, as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (2019) from Concordia University. Prior to her academic role, she spent 15 years as a PTA in outpatient and inpatient settings, serving as Education Coordinator in her department.
As a leader in physical therapy education, Niemann focuses on clinical reasoning, interprofessional collaboration, and DEI initiatives. She is a Certified Physical Therapy Clinical Educator and active in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), including the Nebraska chapter’s DEI committee and PTA Educator Special Interest Group. Her research includes pioneering a clinical reasoning assessment tool for PTAs, and she frequently presents on topics like PT-PTA teaming, work-life balance, and cultural competence.
Awards include the Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching and Clinical Excellence honors. Beyond academia, she advocates for family time, outdoor activities, and community service.
