Jessica Howell is an Assistant Professor of History and Chair of the Humanities Department at Flagler College. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Russian History from Florida State University. Her research focuses on 19th-century Russian agrarian movements, peasant political participation, and comparative revolutionary studies, including work on the Cuban Revolution. She teaches courses in Russian, European, and Latin American history.

Her research explores economic and social conditions of Russian peasants and their political engagement. Current projects include an article on Cuban revolutionary voices and studies on revolutionary apathy in pre-Soviet Russia. She has led study abroad programs to Russia and presented widely at academic conferences, including BASEES and the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. Her pedagogical work includes blending online and traditional education models.
She has published in journals like Mind and Society and Journal on School Educational Technology, with works under review in Agricultural History and Issues and Controversies. Her teaching portfolio spans Russian history, Latin American revolutions, and historical methods.
