Jennifer Lambe is an Associate Professor of History and Director of Graduate Studies at Brown University, where she also earned her AB (2006) before completing her PhD at Yale University (2014). Her work focuses on Cuba's political, intellectual, and cultural history, particularly the intersection of revolution and everyday life. Her research explores themes such as the Cuban Revolution's domestic and international reception, the history of mental health institutions, and Cold War dynamics.
Her major publications include Madhouse: Psychiatry and Politics in Cuban History (2017), which examines Cuba's Mazorra Mental Asylum as a site of political intervention, and The Revolution from Within: Cuba, 1959-1980 (2019), co-edited with Michael Bustamante. Her forthcoming book, The Subject of Revolution, analyzes how political and popular cultures shaped perceptions of the Cuban Revolution through media, travel, and cultural practices.
Lambe has been awarded grants from the Mellon Foundation, ACLS, and Cuban Heritage Collection. She directs the digital humanities project 'Beyond the Sugar Curtain' tracing Cuba-U.S. connections post-1959. Teaching includes courses on Caribbean history, psychiatric history, and revolutionary Cuba.
