Dr Jessica Hambly is a Senior Lecturer at ANU College of Law and Co-Director of the Law Reform and Social Justice program. Her socio-legal research focuses on asylum law, refugee rights, and access to justice, employing legal geography methodologies to examine spatial and temporal dimensions of law.
Education: LLB (KCL/Paris 1); BCL (Oxon); MSc (Bristol); PhD (Bristol).
Research examines asylum appeals procedures, vulnerability constructions in migration law, and legal bordering practices. Current projects include analysis of asylum review mechanisms and critical approaches to trauma-informed lawyering.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on refugee rights and procedural justice, with recent works developing trauma-informed legal frameworks.
Collaborates with refugee rights organizations including Bristol Refugee Rights and Samos Legal Centre. Teaches courses on Law and Social Movements incorporating socio-legal methodologies.
