Associate Professor of Strategic Communications at Elon University's School of Communications, Jessica Gisclair serves as Interim Assistant Dean of the Global Education Center and faculty-in-residence for the International Living Learning Community. With over three decades of academic experience, she teaches strategic communications, media law, and ethics courses while leading accreditation efforts through ACEJMC and advising the North Carolina Open Government Coalition.
Her educational background includes a Juris Doctor in Constitutional and Media Law from the University of Toledo, a Master of Science in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Journalism from Nicholls State University.
Professor Gisclair's research centers on China's emergence as a global economic leader, with current work examining AI's impact on China's international competitiveness and collaborations with the U.S./EU. She analyzes Chinese crime fiction as a lens for cultural identity while previously investigating intellectual property compliance and open-source software adoption in developing nations. Her methodology blends legal analysis, cultural studies, and technology policy frameworks.
Her publications reveal interdisciplinary trends spanning technology policy, cultural studies, and international relations, consistently focusing on China's evolving global role through technological advancement and cultural expression. These works demonstrate methodological diversity from qualitative literary analysis to policy-oriented technology assessments.
