Jesse McCoy is the Clinical Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Civil Justice Clinic at Duke University School of Law. He leads a seminar course, mentors students in civil litigation skills, and oversees cases for indigent clients via the clinic’s partnership with Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC).

His expertise spans civil justice, public interest law, and clinical legal education, with practical experience in landlord-tenant matters, domestic violence advocacy, and foreclosure defense. Prior to joining Duke, he practiced in criminal defense, personal injury, and housing evictions.
Mccoy has taught at North Carolina Central University and Wake Forest University Schools of Law. He also authored two novels, A Family Saga Book 1: Sundiata and Blacks’s Law: The Hell-Maker, and is an avid supporter of the Carolina Panthers.
