معرفی
Jens Zimmermann, a Full Professor of English at Trinity Western University (since 2006), is a distinguished scholar holding a Former Canada Research Chair in Interpretation, Religion and Culture. His academic journey bridges Philosophy (PhD, 2010) and Comparative Literature (PhD, 1997), reflecting a profound interdisciplinary focus on the intersection of Christian Humanism, Theological Hermeneutics, and Existential Phenomenology.
His research interrogates the role of religion in shaping Western cultural and ethical frameworks, particularly through the lens of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and thinkers like Heidegger, Gadamer, and Levinas. Zimmermann critiques both secularism and fundamentalism, advocating for a hermeneutical humanism that integrates theological insights into contemporary discourse. His monographs and edited volumes, including Incarnational Humanism (2012) and Reimagining the Sacred (2015), exemplify his commitment to bridging theology, philosophy, and cultural studies.
Zimmermann’s publications span 15 recent works (2007-2015), analyzing topics from Bonhoeffer’s Christological Humanism to Virtue Ethics in Globalization, with keywords like Philosophical Anthropology, Religious Transcendence, and Literary Theory. His scientific awards, including $500,000 in CRC and SSHRC grants, underscore his influence in interdisciplinary research.
