Prof Jacob Phillips is a Professor of Systematic Theology at St Mary's University. His research focuses on 20th Century German Theology, Systematic/Dogmatic Theology, and the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Joseph Ratzinger, and John Henry Newman. He explores themes like human self-understanding, conscience, and obedience through interdisciplinary lenses. Phillips has published extensively on theological and cultural intersections, including monographs like John Henry Newman and the English Sensibility (2023) and Obedience is Freedom (2022). His recent work engages with synodal theology, interculturality, and the legacy of Vatican II.
