Oliver Keenan is the Academic Dean and Lecturer in Christian Doctrine at Ripon College Cuddesdon, part of the University of Oxford. He previously served as Director of the Aquinas Institute at Blackfriars Hall. His doctoral work (DPhil) was completed at Oxford under Prof. Graham Ward, focusing on the philosophy of Michael Polanyi. Keenan's research bridges systematic theology with philosophical inquiry, emphasizing theological method, Christology, and Catholic receptions of Karl Barth. His current projects investigate divine predestination, Eckhartian mysticism, and the theological turn in continental philosophy.
Education: DPhil in Theology, University of Oxford (supervised by Prof. Graham Ward).
Research Interests: Theological epistemology, metaphysics of Jesus’s humanity, and fundamental ontology. He is Principal Investigator for the project 'Truth, Aquinas and the Theological Turn in Continental Philosophy' (2021–2023). Editor of New Blackfriars, he also analyzes modern Thomism and Barthian thought through lenses of rationality and virtue.
