Jenny Wise

Dr. Jenny Wise is an Associate Professor in Criminology at the University of New England's School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She serves as Secretary for the Centre for Rural Criminology and researches dark tourism, crime-as-leisure, forensic science impacts, and the CSI Effect. Her qualifications include a BSocSci (Hons) and PhD in Criminology from UNSW, and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from UNE.

Research interests focus on:

• Dark tourism experiences and cultural representations
• Intersections of crime, leisure, and popular culture
• Forensic science's societal impacts
• Rural criminology and policing challenges

Recent publications analyze cult mythology, dark tourism ethics, and criminal branding trends. Grants include an ARC Linkage Project on crime heritage experiences and an AIC study on literacy programs in Aboriginal communities.
