Elizabeth Hale

Dr. Elizabeth Hale is Associate Professor of English Literary Studies at the University of New England, Australia. A Fulbright scholar with a PhD from Brandeis University, she researches children's literature, classical antiquity in YA fiction, and 19th-century literature. She leads the Australasian wing of the ERC-funded Our Mythical Childhood project. Awards include a 2011 Australian Teaching Citation for integrating creative pedagogy.

Her research analyzes mythological frameworks in fantasy literature and media representations of terrorism. Recent publications examine jihadist narratives in television and photographic framing of terror attacks.
