Jenny Cattier is an Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in the Cambridge School of Creative Industries, part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. She concurrently pursues a PhD investigating the therapeutic applications of speculative fiction for managing depression. Her academic background includes an MA in Creative Writing from ARU (2014) and a funded PhD scholarship awarded in 2017.
Research Focus: Jenny's work bridges creative writing and psychology, examining how speculative fiction serves as bibliotherapy—specifically aiding women with depression. Her methodology employs interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) to explore cognitive, affective, and social dimensions of reading. Key themes include political affect, transformative literature, and mental health interventions.
