Dr. Jennie Dayes is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her academic background includes a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, a Graduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology, and a BSc (hons) in Psychology. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Novel Writing. Her research focuses on grief and bereavement etiquette, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME/CFS, and the intersection of archaeology with health and wellbeing. Notably, she has contributed to the development of NICE guidelines for children/young people with ME/CFS and advises on bereavement support materials for Marie Curie.
Dr. Dayes teaches Psychology, Counselling, and Psychotherapy, emphasizing student growth and personalized approaches. She supervises dissertations on Psychology with Counselling and a PhD exploring identity formation in young adults with Ménière’s disease. Her qualitative research methods include Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis and Thematic Analysis. She holds an honorary researcher position at the University of Bradford.
Her work extends to media engagement, including appearances on podcasts like The Bereaved Parents’ Club and Radio Royal Bradford. Key projects include exploring memorial tattoo etiquette and the therapeutic impact of archaeological activities on veterans and healthcare workers.
