Eleanor Warman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Chester, UK. She teaches on the MA in Clinical Counselling, focusing on theory, ethics, professional practice, and counselling placements. Her role includes dissertation supervision and maintaining a private practice in counselling. She contributes to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) through writing and reviewing good practice guidelines.
Education: BA (Hons) English (2:1, University of Hull, 1997–2000); MA Clinical Counselling (Merit, University of Chester, 2010–2013).
Research interests center on bereavement, death, and dying, including projects such as evaluating bereavement services, continuing bonds in grief, and creative grief interventions for bereaved parents. Recent work includes a 2024 PhD Studentship from WELS at the OU to study textiles in bereavement.
Professional activities include BACP editorial roles (e.g., Good Practice guides on breaks/endings, accountability), an Advance HE Fellowship (2023), and podcast contributions on counselling profession challenges.
Teaching focuses on professional skills development and practical elements of clinical counselling placements. Grants include the 2024 WELS Studentship and research assistant roles in bereavement service evaluations.
